Businesses that operate internationally, across trade finance, import/export, and global vendor networks, regularly need to pay beneficiaries whose banks aren't reachable through ACH, domestic wires, or SEPA. Until now, that meant handling an entire class of payments outside your Sphere integration. Starting today, you can send USD payouts to over 11,000 financial institutions in more than 200 countries via SWIFT, directly from the Sphere API.

Global Reach, Same API

SWIFT is now a supported network in the bank accounts and transfers APIs. You create a SWIFT-enabled bank account using the same account number and BIC fields you already use, with optional intermediary bank routing for correspondent chains. Then you send a stablecoin-to-USD payout with SWIFT as the destination network.

  • Reach banks in over 200 countries with USD payouts over the SWIFT network.
  • Pay named third parties like suppliers, business partners, and subsidiaries — not just your own accounts.
  • No migration required. SWIFT support is purely additive: existing ACH, Wire, SEPA, and PIX integrations are unchanged.

Your Name On Every Payment

Receivers of international payments, especially in trade finance and import/export, often need the underlying sender's name on the transaction rather than a payment processor's. Unrecognized sender names are one of the most common triggers for held, flagged, or returned international payments. SWIFT payouts through Sphere carry your company name, so recipients know exactly who paid them and can match the payment to an invoice.

Who It's For

Any business paying overseas suppliers, partners, or beneficiaries in USD, and any platform whose customers need payout coverage beyond domestic rails. If your counterparties bank outside the reach of ACH, wire, or SEPA, SWIFT closes the gap.

Getting Started

SWIFT payouts require an approved verification_profile_c. Once approved, create a SWIFT-enabled bank account and start sending payouts. Each SWIFT transfer includes a payment reason code from Sphere's supported list (see docs). To get set up, reach out to support@spherepay.co.
